Lovejoy's Spicy Tomato Bisque with Thai Basil Kick

A bold twist on a comforting classic.
This velvety bisque is smoky, creamy, and packed with rich umami thanks to our Thai Basil Bloody Mary Mix. It’s the ultimate soul-soother for chilly days or fancy brunch starters.

Ingredients:

  • 3 red bell peppers

  • 8 cloves garlic

  • 1 yellow onion

  • 2 (8 oz.) cans crushed tomatoes

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 2 cups Lovejoy’s Thai Basil Bloody Mary Mix

  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

  • 3 Tbsp sugar

  • 1 Tbsp dried basil

  • 1 Tbsp dried oregano

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Garnish: Fresh basil & a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Toss bell peppers, garlic, and onion in neutral oil with salt and pepper. Roast until golden brown and soft.

  2. In a medium sauce pot, combine roasted vegetables, canned tomatoes, cream, Thai Basil Mix, sugar, and dried herbs.

  3. Simmer on low for 20 minutes.

  4. Purée with a standing blender or immersion blender until smooth.

  5. Season to taste. Garnish with fresh basil and a drizzle of olive oil.
